Four new permits to operate in Kraków Special Economic Zone (SEZ) were issued by the company managing the zone. It was also announced that another five permits would be issued after completing the procedure of extending the area of the SEZ.

Two other permits concerned the operations in Boguchwała (Podkarpackie province). They were issued to Rafo (manufacturer of wooden products) and Bauwer (company operating in the sector of construction materials). The sub-zone in Niepołomice will be the location of a new production line operated by FoodCare (food industry).

After completing the ongoing procedure of extending the SEZ, five further permits will be issued. The SEZ will receive new plots prepared for investments. A request for these plots was submitted last year to the Ministry of Economy by the Management Board of Kraków Technology Park. The request concerned more than 177 hectares of investment areas in sub-zones located in Skawina, Wolbrom, Klucze and Jaworzno. Most of the investments are planned by Polish companies operating mainly in machine, automotive, pharmaceutical and food industries. In total, the investments planned after the extension of the zone will create approx. 300 new jobs and the expected investment expenditures will exceed PLN 350 million.

Kraków Special Economic Zone was established in 1997 and this year Kraków Technology Park has issued 15 permits. Currently the area of the SEC exceeds 707 hectares, divided into sub-zones located in Małopolskie and Podkarpackie provinces.
