Expansion of Kraków's SEZ

The Council of Ministers issued a resolution amending a resolution on the Kraków Special Economic Zone. The changes involve including additional 88.4 ha in the zone and removing 9 ha from its area. As a result, the area of Kraków SEZ will be 707 ha.

The purpose of the resolution is to take full advantage of special economic zones to develop new investments, innovative investments that increase the competitiveness of our economy and create new jobs, in particular.

The new areas are to be included into sub-zones in: Kraków, Tarnów, Nowy Sącz, Oświęcim and Skawina. A new sub-zone was established in Sucha Beskidzka in Nowa Sarzyna.

Companies that will be established in the Kraków Zone will spend PLN 1.5 billion and will create about 750 jobs. The companies will include mostly representatives of the chemicals industry. The major investments will include those implemented by: Azoty Group and co-operators (3 projects for the total amount of PLN 412.55 million, 34 new jobs), Synthos Dwory 7 sp. z o.o. sp. j. (4 projects for the total amount of PLN 1100.35 million, 300 new jobs), Zakłady Chemiczne "Organika-Sarzyna" S.A. (a Ciech Group company, an investment project for PLN 84 million, 21 new jobs) and Dragon Poland (over PLN 20 million and 30 new jobs). All these projects involve Polish capital only.

An important investment will be made by HSBC Service Delivery (Poland) sp. z o.o., due to which 150 new jobs in the BPO industry will be created.

In total, there are 13 new investments planned in the zone, including in the electronics and furniture industries.
